What is Alive Inside CommUniversity?

The film 'Alive Inside' showed how music, relationship, and empathy can transform the end of life.

The film was instrumental in changing eldercare worldwide. Today, millions of caregivers give memory music to elders living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

As you may know, before Covid hit, we were working on a follow-up film we believed would make an even bigger impact called Alive Inside: Too!

We wanted the new film to transform public education and eldercare.

What if kids give the elders the memory music? This became Alive Inside CommUniversity. They imagined eldercare centers and elders as a teaching tool for the benefit of all. 

Tony Fisher created the Alive Inside CommUniversity pilot in Healdsburg, CA. Starting with one private school the program it eventually expanded to 13 schools bringing 200-400 students into the center each month.  What enfolded was transformative for everyone!

The teachers found freedom in teaching using elders as an educational resource, the students found purpose changing the elders' lives, and the institution bloomed financially and emotionally. 

Thrilled, Michael and Tony began making a follow-up film called, Alive Inside: Too!
They believed the new film would transform eldercare and public schools nationwide. 

After getting the film 1/3 done- Covid-19 hit. 

This was a disaster. Overnight, five years of work bringing Youth and Elders together became unthinkable.

Of course, Michael and Tony were disappointed.

But, the work is necessary and they've been waiting patiently to restart this program.
